Anyone else having trouble buying Ilex?

I looked on the website, says it’s only available by doctors prescription. Doesn’t look like they will be selling over the counter any longer

Ya I saw that too but I thought that was only in the UK...

there are other posts just recently updated on this... I called Ilex and they stated the tubes will be in next month or so and the 8 oz tubs wont be available until summer at earliest,... this sucks

I'm in USA. Got my last supply from Grafton Mass. Now their site directs me to UK site. They are out of stock of all sizes but the tiny tubes. Thanks Pouchomarx for your info. Did you call UK number? I called the 800-443-6332, but no answer. Like you said, this sucks.

I’ve been waiting on my prescription since December for a whole month at least now. They even offered to send it to another place but it doesn’t help.

I contacted the company. They said they are way behind in manufacturing,  but will notify via email when it is available again. I am in California.

Please let us know when you get the email. I need Ilex desperately. I'm also in California.

Interesting occurrence, we are on vacation, just had call from my credit card co. About a large charge, greater than 500$, on a credit card that I only use for Netflix and I used for Ilex from the company and when I tried to get Ilex from Brivol — there is a post somewhere on here where several people tried to get it, but order was cancelled —me included. The charge was for computer/software stuff, but my credit card co. declined it. Maybe it has nothing to do with this, but please watch your credit cards!!

i made a mistake by ordering only one when I saw it on Ilex website and Amazon. Thought their issues were over, but now they are out again!!!!😝

They just emailed me and said they wont have stock again until 2024..wtf? this company is ridiculous, they were out almost the entire 2023. they better not go out of business cuz there is nothing like ILEX. this sucks

I've been following this thread and looks like the ilex supply troubles haven't been resolved.  There's still no sign of stock anywhere and a couple of sites I looked at say that the product has been permanently discontinued.

I got my jpouch in 2002 and been using ilex since then.  It's expensive but worth it IMO.

One poster above stated that there's nothing like ilex.  If anyone knows of a comparable product to ilex then please let me know,  you will make my day for sure.

I've not seen or heard anything myself.  I've decided to search for a best alternative.  I've tried 3 other products so far (no standouts yet) and have 4 more products on order.

I'll post my opinions/results in a new thread after my testing is complete, which would be in about two weeks since I live overseas and have to wait for the products to arrive.

Both numbers are not working and they stopped replying to emails,,  so pissed . I need a product that dried like Ilex and doesnt stay a wet goopy mess..

In one Amazon review for Coloplast Thick Moisture Barrier Paste, the reviewer said this about the product "...doesn't leave a greasy feeling and it turns into a powder like substance."  What exactly this means I'm not positive but I plan on finding out: I'm waiting to receive this and three other products to try out.

3M Cavilon has a new product called advanced skin protectorant that claims to create a waterproof barrier against stool and urine and is "elastomeric" which I guess means will move with your skin. It's expensive and I don't have any experience with it but thought you might want to look it up.

The Coloplast is very good but nothing like Ilex.

I’ll check out the 3M caviling too.

Tried Coloplast. Not happy with it. Ilex is the best.

Clearly states it’s not available!!!!

It says "temporarily unavailable" which is probably a mislead. My suggestion was to try the email and see what comes back. If it's been deactivated and mail is returned as undeliverable, then you know that the toilet has flushed and Ilex is done for good.

I've been doing some "googling" regarding Ilex and I think the manufacturing and world wide distribution rights were purchased recently by a UK company called OakMed. Prior to that it seems that it was manufactured  and/or distributed in US by a company called MedCon. My guess is there are some unsettled legal issues regarding who owns what and that is contributing or causing the unavailability in the US. The whole thing has sounded fishy from the beginning.

I do believe your Internet sleuthing is very much on point, except that this says MedCon, as part of the deal, continues on as the distributor of Ilex in the USA:

It sounds like a done deal, except I could not find any date attached to this statement.

Of course there could be a dispute or claim by some other entity with respect to North American distribution rights. Maybe even litigation. If you want to do more sleuthing I would check the U.S. District Court database because that's where such a case would be.

Legal issues……. What a shame!

Hopefully they get their sh….t together soon so we don’t have to suffer much longer!

I'm finding that a cream called Proshield Plus is an OK substitute for Ilex.

RE: Proshield Plus:  It does look promising after reading about it.  I just ordered some and should have in hand in 7-10 days.

DID YOU TRY IT YET?

No, I'm still waiting to receive it.  The first site I ordered from (https://www.ciamedical.com/) looked like my order was stuck in processing for over a week and price per tube very high, so I cancelled the order.  I finally was able to order a couple of 4oz tubes from Amazon.co.uk (the UK site).  Tracking says it's due to be delivered to my freight forwarder in Miami, FL on 1-March.  I should get it in-hand about 7-10 days later.

RE: Proshield Plus Skin Protect: received this today and tried it once so far.    It reminds me of a much thicker Coloplast Critic Care Clear Moisture Barrier Ointment.  It does not dry.  But it's bordering on tacky so I'm thinking I might use it sometimes.  But even so it's nothing like iLex in effectiveness.  Nothing I've tried so far even touches iLex as far as I'm concerned. 

Here's hoping that iLex makes a return in the future.  You'd think with a product like iLex that someone would purchase the rights and start producing it again.  The stuff is like gold IMO.  I'd be willing to pay alot more if it did return.

I get by, but there just isn’t anything like Ilex.
