I don't have any experience with similar problems. I can imagine how scared you are for her as a mother myself. Hopefully the CT scan w/dye will point to something that can be done to make the inflammation go away.

Hopefully someone else will post with experience with a similar problem.

Thank you TE marie. She ended up back in surgery today. Bowel twisted upside down, causing inflammation & blockage. Hoping they fixed the problem and she can get back to being a teenager soon

So sorry to hear your daughter is going through all of this.

Could she have an abscess somewhere? My daughter had one after surgery, a pouch inlet revision, and it was very painful for her. They found it on the ct scan.

Hope she gets answers soon and starts to feel better.

I had what was likely an ileus during some of my procedures. I had an ng (and then g) tube for a few weeks and was on tpn for two months. I was in the hospital for over a month during this. I blame it on surgery trauma and stress. The bowels are weird things. What finally turned me around was switching to a doctor I trusted, being able to finally go home, and weirdly, watching Diners, Drive ins and Dives. I went so long without eating (2 months), that I was dying for something real to eat. That show, and Anthony Bourdain, kicked my cravings into high gear I also wasn't able to drink for that time, but I convinced my surgeon to allow me a little each day to keep the mental health up. Nothing like drinking a coffee bean blended drink and watching it flow out of my g tube into a bag 1 minute later. Really, your daughter just needs to believe that all will return to normal, which will relieve the stress, and her body will follow suit. It's not easy, but it feels very good when the dam breaks and the bowels rumble again.
