I am an active 59 years old and I am on my second stoma site due to hernia that grew around my stoma.  Needless to say it would be nice not having to have an external bag and everything that goes along with it, but My concerns are my age and if having the j pouch surgery is the way to go.   If bag last up to 30 years possibly that is with in my lifetime, but because of my age does it cause more problems as you get older.  Is there an increase with leakage/incontinence more because muscles are not as strong. don’t want to be in my 80’s having all sorts of problems either.

does anyone know if there has been advancements in the technology of j pouch since 30 years ago. And if so what?
