Had tried 600 rifaximin in past to no avail. Started 2200 and it did not seem to work, added 500 cipro to it ( for a week or 10 days, cannot remember) and then tapered off cipro. Then very slowly tapered rifaximin down to almost 550 ( cutting pills in half etc...)
This is in combination wih humira, methotxtrate and a strict diet. Also planning to taper humira and methotextrate which do not seem to impact him.
Also use lipase, digetsive enzymes, sodium butyrate, floristor, peppermint oil, multi, vitamin D, immodium and acacia fiber. Son has no currently has no inflammation and feels fine but consistent night time incontinence.
I'm on 550 twice a day. The Augmentum seemed to get it to work again. I also take a mid day probiotic be it 24 hour yogurt, kefir, VSL, or whatever probiotic I have in the house. And canassa at night. Also I just experimented taking pepto bismol in the am and that has really helped. And I take gummy fiber. Lots of inflamatory vitamins like vit d! turmeric! fish oil, etc

I was once on Xifaxan for over 2 years when I developed trush and my GI had me stop it. Then I got bad pouchitis again and it stopped working. I restarted it again after 3 years, then again I stopped it and again it stopped working till using the Augmentum. So, unless some miracle happens, I have no plans to ever stop.

Sorry, but I'm no longer strict with my diet. I am a believer of feeding the bacteria with fiber and resitant starches. Ok and some chocolate.
