Xifaxin is not really systemically absorbed into the bloodstream so the only side effects it should produce are gastrointestinal, e.g. diarhhea, cramps. If someone is getting headaches I don't understand how xifaxin would be the cause as it is very poorly absorbed, although maybe the minimal amount that is absorbed is enough to do it. What I have read about it is that the side effects are usually exclusively gastrointestinal.

I would be very careful about claiming causation of any systemic side effect outside of the intestinal tract on xifaxin.
I had never read of headaches being a side effect either so I was surprised to experience it. It must have been a coincidence because the headaches stopped after two days and I was on the Xifaxin for two weeks.

The best news is that it seems to have worked! I am out of pain for the first time since shortly after Thanksgiving. Time to train for another half marathon! Smiler
