I have just been through my final stage of j-pouch surgery. And I am now looking to start working out and getting my fitness back up there..was wondering if it is okay to use creatine and other supplements. I will be asking my doctor when I see him next week. But would also like some feedback from here as this site has been a great help. Thanking you in advance cheers

Blair,
I was an avid sports freak and worked out nearly daily..At one point a friend of mine (fitness coach) put me on amino acids to help build up my muscle mass...I had lost a lot with all of the surgeries and bedrest...and I had absolutely no problems...but, and here is where I am 'over'cautious...go slowly, take it easy on the weight and do not overdo things like squats, leg press, invertion trainning (especially with weights) or any lifting that could put excess pressure on the rectal region...we don't think about it much but heavy weight can cause hernias and prolapse so work on lighter weights and higher reps to get to where you want to be...This is long terms stuff and not a race...surviving is the prize.
