Hi all! I'm at 14 weeks pregnant and, oh boy! Passing gas is a thing!

It's like my pouch is being squished in there-- and air can't come out! It's become an issue that can slow down or stop my day if I need to try to pass wind. I'm rolling, I'm bending, sometimes I have to lay on my side to try to convince this air to move. And when I do get to the bathroom, it still doesn't want to come out properly.

I've been wondering, where does the j-pouch go in pregnancy? I still have such a long way to go, so I'm a little concerned about what this will be like.

Is the j-pouch behind the pregnant uterus, closer to the back, or does it get mashed to the side? Anyone know what's happening in there?

Those who have birthed before: How was your pouch function in the second and third trimesters? Any tips or tricks that can help? Any recommended poses or positions to get things to move?

Thanks everyone!

Only one! And I’m 41 (40 at egg retrieval), so that was a feat! I’m so thankful every day, because I know I was lucky in this. I researched clinics well and we got two genetically tested viable embryos in the end. I also did a procedure called endometrial receptivity array (ERA) which was absolutely essential to the whole thing working- it’s a new procedure and I recommend it to anyone, although it’s expensive. IVF is such a gamble... it’s like you put your money down and just hope for the best. It’s kind of crazy when you think about it.

Yeah you were extremely lucky!!! Too bad its gambling; I wish all insurances covered that and saved people money.

Were the IVF shots painful???

It just is being the uterus. For me I was fine and no symptoms besides the regular old pregnancy ones. I had some hemmeroids that were a little uncomfortable. The indigestion wasn’t fun either but that’s all regular pregnancy stuff. For some people the number of bathroom trips lessens so maybe that’ll happen?? Who knows?

Toward the last month I had this really full feeling and I felt like I had to go to the bathroom all the time- not pee but poop, and it was probably pushing on the pouch, I assumed. I had a 1/2 mile walk from my car to the office - I work on a college campus so that was a feat! I wasn’t that big either so I think if you get bigger It might be more of an issue.

I had preclampsyia so I was induced at 37 weeks. I was going to have a planned c-section anyway, so I double I would have gotten much bigger.

I hope this helps and best of luck to you!!
