I've been feeling pretty good lately since i quit antibiotics, but my stool is still watery some times and quite loose, even though i eat thickener/smoothener and loperamid.

It only sometimes dissolves into the water and "color" it, and that is mainly when i have not eaten in a while and/or had alcohol (beer).

Although i feel good, it's such a natural response to get anxious when the stool is loose, that i feel weird about it, you've lived your whole life thinking loose stool is something very bad - but is it?

How is your stool when you function the best?

The output of my stool often varies, even without the course of a few hours. Obviously this has a lot to do with what I have eaten or not eaten as the case may be, but I've also noticed differences in consistency based on the time of day. Generally, my stool is looser earlier in the day, probably because I don't eat much for breakfast, and then tends to firm up as the day goes on. Not to sound gross, but on average, I would place my consistency somewhere between chocolate pudding and mashed potatoes.

Looser stool is not necessarily a bad thing - in fact, looser stool is much easier to pass and many people on this forum skip bulking agents to avoid straining. I usually don't get too concerned about an occasional watery stool; it's more frequency I pay attention to. If I'm having watery stool often, or if I can't pinpoint a reason for it, then I tend to keep an eye on it. I think it's a throwback to our UC days; we'll probably always be slightly OCD about our poop. Smiler
this is a great question... my poop is all over the place! i am only 7-8 weeks out, but in 1 day I have 5 different consistencies:

- milkshake like
- oatmeal like
- watery
- small pellets
- formed lumps

i guess it depends on diet, but i prefer milkshake or oatmeal like. watery tends to burn more. pellets and lumps are harder to evacuate!

i have no idea why my poops and pouch has multiple personality disorder! i wish it could be a little more consistent.

with my ostomy it was either watery or milkshake/oatmeal type.

sometimes when i see watery i think it's not a good sign. like i am getting sick or pouchitis type symptoms.

but, then it goes back through the different types. so watery happens once a day. i guess it is not pouchitis?

i am poop-obsessed!
