looks like Jeffrey has a sinus now.  I know we talked about this someplace else.  Not sure exactly what's going on, but last week he had a pouchoscopy and when I read the report, it mentioned a sinus going to the abscess.  So, what's worse, a sinus or a fistulia.  It also showed a leak at the top of the pouch on the stiching.  This week he had a barium test.  Jeffrey was watching the monitor and saw a time bit of barium leak out.  That's a first.  I'm not sure at this point what is going on, I just know I'm tired of the weekly trips to NY!

I don't think one is worse than another, except perhaps a sinus might be worse because debris can get trapped in the blind end and the abscess can reform over and over again.

With a fistula, it is more of an annoyance, unless it connects with the bladder or other organ that is susceptible to infection.

If Jeff does not have enough small bowel for a redo, and pouch salvage is not possible, then permanent ileostomy is the next best option. I wish I had something more inspirational for you, but unless these docs pull a rabbit out of their hat, this is not going to "just heal."

Jan thank you. I was hoping the fistulia would be worse but i dont know if it is still there or healed.  There is an abscess present and i think that is where the sinus was?  Dont remember. Ill have to look at the report again. I wish there was an wasy fix for jeff. We meet with the surgeon on the 10th so im sure we will get more bad news. I feel like the hits just keep coming with no end in site. I guess the good news is the PSC is not acting up. Thanks again.
