Ok everyone, I wrote back in April about my jpouch leaking out of my vagina. I went to GI today, and he did a rectal and vaginal exam. He is sending me for a ct scan of abd/pelvis with contrast. He is sending me to a surgeon in NYC that he thinks I should see Dr. Greenstein. I have not had anything done since my 1991 surgery. I never had a scope or anything. Yes I am a fool. He thinks I might have crohns. Omg I cant deal with this all over again. I feel like crap I have low back pain and I feel all bloated and like I am going to pop. Someone say something. Also this is way off topic but I have been divorced for a year now, and was just thinking of getting into dating again. I dont want to be with anyone that is normal. I need a guy with a jpouch that knows all the bullshit that goes with it. Im 50 years old, and I just feel really shitty right now. Does this site have a dating section? Ha Ha I know I sound crazy but I am having an explosion of feelings right now.

Take some deep breaths, relax and try not to think the worst about events that may never happen.  Above all, do not think of yourself as being “spoiled goods”.  I had similar concerns about returning to the dating scene after being widowed, and made it a priority to present my positive points and delay bringing up my medical issues until later when the time appeared to be right (there are no rules for that, just a gut feeling – pun not intended).  I used an online dating service and did not limit myself to those having medical issues similar to mine.  Whenever I had a “rejection” for whatever reason, I tried not to take it personally and continued dating until I found that special woman.  Since you are recently divorced and have concerns about your medical issues, my thoughts are to wait a while before entering the dating scene.

I have a perianal fistula. In 2012, I started feeling "off" in a way. Kept saying to my husband it felt like "UC-lite," you know. Kinda like I used to feel, when I was ill as a child/teen, but not horrific. Then my problems began that December.

My GI says that "old" pouches are developing new IBD issues. He doesn't feel it *always* = new dx of Crohn's, but some new "umbrella" of new IBD. ie. you can take the colon out of the girl, you can't switch off her genes. As pouches age, they look more and more colonic, even at a pathological level, and gene mutations are happening, so our genes might be switching back on to attack our new "colons."

It was very hard for me to deal with my issues at first, but I've slowly gotten better with the help of a conscientious and gentle GI. I'm not "cured," but I'm hanging in there.
