Pouchoscoopy tomorrow morning. No j pouch prep given, just colonoscopy prep which says no herbal meds, dairy, etc. Called doc's office and the nurse referred me to the outpatient dept where its being done, who really didnt seem to know but guessed it was fine to take. Ingredients in the Vsl capsule include non fat dry milk (must be miniscule amount)and "micocrystalline cellulose , etc and of course  the lactic acid bacteria. I want her to see the pouch how it usually looks when I take the Vsl daily but not sure if taking it today is wrong.  Want the helpful effect of the VSL to last,, especially since scope will be a little irritating  tomorrow but dont want to take it if its the wrong thing to do. Maybe just take a smaller dose than usual for today? Advice please! Thanks!

Hattie, this won't make a huge difference either way. Missing a day of VSL is not a big deal, and taking it is okay, too, though you're about to flush it right out. I wouldn't take it late in the day, though. I'm sorry you're going through a full colonoscopy prep for a simple pouchoscopy. That's overkill, IMO. Perhaps you can ask your doctor before the procedure if a more modest prep would be okay next time, since there's no colon to flush. If so, you'll have to write it down for next time, because the nurses, etc. are unlikely to have a clue.
