hi i have not posted in a while..i have had difficult time since 06..and diagnosed with antibiotic dependent pouchitis...have rotated 4 antibiotics for years..tried specific diets like SCD..at one point a few years ago with just diet i was off antibiotics for 6 months and then just as it came to be it changed and diet was not helping..i also experienced my antibiotics changing up in how long that would be good before bad symptoms set in..in my case going a lot, loose waste, serious irritation and feelings of not emptying..but had many years of burning  as well..but over course of last few years rotating antibiotics helped me keep it going and functioning..

as for now and the last year i am rotating 4 antibiotics on each a month before i voluntarily switch..my last exam i only had very very mild pouchitis or inflammation where pouch hooks up to rest of intestines..

awhile ago i added phylum husk  twice a day to my diet which no longer is restricted and found it made remarkable improvement to my now mild pouchitis..i believe i am  going less times ..and it has remarkably firmed up my waste(like  many formed  mini bm`s..) this firming i believe has helped keep my ongoing itch i just accepted around anal area as part of what is my life with jpouch ..but the formed stools cut that down a lot..

i seriously am having my best year ever after9  very precarious years..i do not try to cut back on antibiotics fearful of upsetting the apple cart actually because   the pouch with antibiotics and phylum husk are working well enough and my diet is really not restricted..

having seen that the only thing that has been consistent is inconsistency i am holding on to hope i continue to have this good run..

recommend for those with pouchitis to try phylum husk if firming up would help your symptoms its worth a try..i take one tablespoon two times a day..the husk can be mixed with anything..sometimes i just do it mixed in water but most times i add to my morning yoghurt,or some applesauce..you can put it in most anything ..no taste at all..

Just as an offering of something that finally worked for me,  the best probiotics that I have used are Dr. O'hhirra's probiotics.  I managed to finally transition OFF of anti-biotics both times with his formulas. There is a regular strength and a "Professional strength" I would start with the regular and then move up to the professional.  When having pouchitis, I avoid all dairy, gluten and then take these 3 times a day.  When off or pouchitis, I still avoid dairy and gluten and take 1 a day. There is coconut yogurt that is amazing with live cultures if you like the yogurt like I do.
