Too chicken for a check up

I got a notice from my GI doctor about having a scope but just can't seem to schedule one. With all I have been through why am I having such a problem? I've had my pouch for 24 years and many doctors have examined me. Maybe I'm just fried from all of the medical care I've had the past two years because of my joint deterioration.
I also asked about going under for this and the doctor said it wasn't what they usually do. Theresa

Hi Theresa, I know it may seem a little scary to get a check up but you've been through alot already so why not just go ahead and get checked. If the dr catches anything early enough, it would be better now to catch something than you waiting until there are no other options if something was seriously wrong. I want to be checked regularly myself so if I do develop anything, hopefully it can be caught/fixed before it'd be to late. Take care.

After you do this one time you will wonder why you hesitated. For me, the only discomfort during the exam is minor and brief. It is caused when my doctor inserts air inside me to get a better view. Best wishes.

I would surely think that if you "demand" to your doctor that you want to be put under, then he will do that for you. Just be very clear in advance. You need to have scopes to catch anything in advance. The chances of them finding anything are probably pretty slim. So just go ahead, do it, and put it behind you!
