So I went to go see Dr.Shen about a month ago and he put me on Xifaxan which didn't work.

I wasn't really impressed because he spent literally 10 minutes with me, ordered blood work, and then sent me home. I drove 6 hours to go see him!! and then 6 hours back.

Anyways the Xifaxan only made my pouchitis worse just like flagyl did. Well I was reading online that they have great results using Tinidazole with combined with Cipro....downside is that I can't use Cipro because I am allergic to it. Ugh! I'm just so desperate to have the inflammation go away.

Also, I've noticed that since I had my surgery it hurts my lower back really badly if I am standing too long. Does anyone else have this problem?

SO you guys used Tindamax alone just for the pouchitis? he has prescribed me this before mostly for my sinus issue but i went off of it due to past cdiff issue. it was my choice to go off but think i may be having a bad cuff flare or pouchitis so may try it again. the cdiff issues scare me though as far as any antibiotics go. Flagyl does not agree with me, and Cipro has issues we all know of.
Yes, tindamax was for pouchitis (and coincidentally, to help keep the fistula drier). No other antibx. concurrently, but used canasa at the same time.

I liked the tindamax - no side effects, until I was on a little to long and then got those darn tinglies.

Isn't flagyl (and tindamax) used to actually treat c. diff?
I've taken about 4 doses of the Tinidazole and I haven't noticed any side effects. The number of bms are slightly lower and I haven't had too much abdomen cramping. I'm still having straining but hopefully that will go away.

I've had cdiff 2 times before so that always scares me with antibiotics but he said that cdiff isn't a worry with this antibiotic. I just hope i can get into remission!
It's good to know about another antibiotic that is ok to take when we are prone to get c-diff!

FYI fellow c-diff folks
I've been taking s. boulardi along with VSL#3DS since my last round of c-diff. It is supposed to help prevent getting it. It's a prebiotioc (?). I ordered it from Amazon.com for $14 and refrigerated it after I opened it. There were several brands and they probably are available where vitamins are sold.
