Most people see a marked improvement at around 12 weeks. Personally, I'd go nuts eating the same thing for 6 weeks. Obviously it does not help to change things for you. If you are going to be running to the toilet anyway, why not eat something more satisfying than chicken and rice?

Perhaps that is a defeatest attitude, but I prefer to find what joy I can and try to focus less on what is bugging me. Sometimes easier said than done, I know...

Jan I try to have that attitude about eating something more satisfing if I'm gonna pay for later in the day ...  But what bugs me is that I get BB eating blan foods as grilled chicken and white rice that's why I don't binge eat a lil because if I'm have BB with blan food what will happen to me with food with actual flavor? I'm just frustrated bc it looks like im not gonna have much of a social life ... Again sorry for venting

I found it made no difference what I ate, except that spinach really zoomed through me. But, as far as butt burn goes, spice was fine. We are all different.

I saw on your other post that you have been taking Advil. Maybe a week or so after stopping it, your gut will behave a little better. It amazes me that post op instructions do not include being very careful with NSAIDs. You are better off taking generic Benadryl, since that is the actual sedative drug in Advil PM and Tylenol PM.

Either way, venting is good too. Sometimes just complaining is helpful. It doesn't solve anything, but it does help lower stress.

My active time is also at night... I take 2 Lomotil and 3 marshmallows every nigjt before sleep. I still get up amost every 3 hours but I just accept it ... I go ... and go Right back to sleep. I take a Xanax before bedtime and it relaxes me. I stay away from NSAIDS. HAS YOUR GI GIVEN YOU ANY ADVICE??? There are good dYs and then there are those days (nights) that you just want to scream and pull your hair out.... Yes... WE ALL HAVE THOSE DAYS. But, look at the bright side.. Life is a gift... Each day is different.... And thankfully .... There's always TOMORROW! (Hopefully!). Call and talk with your doc and maybe the two of you can figure out a plan.  Hang in there and pray for a better torrow

Thank you JanieP God bless you for your reply and yes we should be thankful for each day but when you feel like you can't leave the house somedays just builds up my anxiety to try to stay positive... Like I want to go to church tomorrow it starts at 6:30pm and I'm stressing out that I may not be able to go I've been wanting to go to church since my takedown 6 weeks ago but that seems like a task as my days are dicey

May I comment?

I don't have a pouch anymore but as I look back  I see what was going on.

I have an ileo now.  My pouch has been removed.

Ever since I have healed and can see... tell... What's going on when I eat something.... I know what was happening.

When  had my pouch I ate bland to normal stuff.  But soon after I ate I was going to the bathroom.... Most  times nothing would come out and the burn and pain was terrible.  When it did I was a little at a time and not all in a couple trips.   This went on day after day... Month after month.

Now that I have my ileo the exact same thing happens.  Except it empties in about an hour and it's  done.

I  is a very short transit time.  As was with my pouch.

I will eat and no more than an hour later I am getting my meal before out.  And about 6-8 hours later this meal is moving through.

Does this make any sense or helps in any way.....?

I don't know.  But it told me how fast things are moved through someone with a pouch.  Or ileo.

Richard.

Ask your doctor for Lomotil and really the Marsallows are a dre. One true... It thickens the stool and slows down everything down. I never have that urgency now although I did before. But think about it... Your bowel has really been on vacation for awhile. It's waking up and needs some time to get back to so called " normal".  Hang in there and try to be patient!  Go and buy theatsallowsnand ask your doc to write a script for Lomotil. Say some prayers and hopefully you'll be able to go to church!!!

Yea Jan stop taking Advil PMs as of last night but I went and bought earlier today NyQuil Zzz it's a sleep aid only what's your opinion on that ? I value your opinion always & thank you for your support and concerns about telling to stop the Advil you truly are a blessed person

Basically, it is fine.

But, you can save your money and just buy generic diphenhydramine (Benadryl), which is the same thing as this, and the active ingredient in all those "PM" meds and OTC sleep aids. Just because it is labeled as an antihistamine and these other things are labeled as sleep aids, it does not mean they are different. It is just marketing.

It took about 12-18 months for my pouch to get in a pattern I could then work around. I know that sounds FOREVER but my Dr said that really is how long it takes to full settle as you are also trying to recover from the all over, long-term damage your body has been through being so sick for so long beforehand (wether thats trauma to other organs, being severely vitamin and mineral depleted, being in a constant state of dehydration etc)  - let alone coming off all the drugs. I was on some sort of immune-suppressant and anti-inflammatory for 19 years.  It takes awhile to clean that crap out (pun intended)
