Does anyone get deep tissue massages on their scar sites in order to break up scar tissue and help prevent adhesions? If so would you need to go to a doctor to have this done or would any therapeutic massage parlor do this?

I would figure that this type of massage would be more in the range of a chiropractor, osteopahthic masseur, kinesitherapeut (sp?) or other medical practioner and not just a 'massage therapist'...not to denigrate their profession but anytime that someone is going to go deep into my tissues I want to make sure that they know exactly what they are doing.
We can be rather knotted up inside and I would hate to think what could happen with the wrong move.

After a series of obstructions eight months ago, I started to see a physical
therapist who specializes in a technique that breaks up scar tissue. This
required a doctors prescription and I have not had any obstructions since.

I am also from NY.I have also thinking of this also .I have read over at ST Luke's Roosevelt and Cornell they have programs for people with our type of surgery.I would definately have approval by my Dctor prior to trying this.
