Tips for post surgery? Anything you’d do differently if you could do it over??

Wish I had ordered my bidet sooner.
Yeah I'd say I wish I had ordered sudocrem earlier . The post takedown butt burn was really bad. Also I should have tracked my sugar intake more specially choclates.
Would apply ilex Protectant Paste around my temp ileostomy from day one to stop painful skin erosion before it occurs; also, continued using the stoma appliances I'd becoming accustomed to rather than using the appliances which the Hospital supplied after the forming of my loop ileostomy.
Ilex Paste, is by far the best product I've used to treat and alleviate the red raw skin errosion around my stoma, cleared up within days; ilex can also be appled to treat, alleviate and prevent butt burn.
I read about Ilex paste and just got a tube in the mail!
I started eating solid food far too soon, at the 2nd week mark. Ate a plate of cooked vegetables and other fibrous food and was in pain for days, and I think the ensuing frequency kicked off my first bout of pouchitis. I should have ordered the bidet attachment sooner. I relied on gentle baby zincofax because calmoseptine was too burn-y. Peeled (no skins!) and grilled or oven roasted zucchini was my best friend. No carrots, no mushroom, no nuts or seeds. Basically try to eat soluable fiber so it exits easily. Chew everything Very, Very Well so your pouch receives processed food. Walk as much as you possibly can for blood flow and easy exercise. Carry wipes or travel bidet with you when you're away from the house to prevent burning residue. Good luck to you!
