Hey Jpouchers and Ostomates!! Hope all is well with you! God is good! I haven't been on here for quite some time. So just a little background I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis back in 2002 and I struggled.with it for a good 10 years until the point where my colon was a wreck and I had to take the plunge and opt into getting Jpouch surgery in 2013. Unfortunately that didn't go well. For a good 3 years I had issues which brought on more procedures and more surgeries. I was a good 30 hours deep in surgeries by that time until I got to the point I became really sick riddled with infections and I dropped down to 130 pounds standing at a height of 6'1" which is not a great look. I was in the hospital for 2 months straight. For those 3 years I was on pain meds which also turned into an addiction. I almost ended up overdosing at my sister's house and ended up in rehab. Praise God I am here today happy and healthy and a big part of my recovery was walking in my church and surrendering my life to the Lord. I had an ileostomy for a while and then got healthy and went for a reversal back to the Jpouch and got another infection. I decided it was time to call it quits with the pouch and stick with an ileostomy which has been a great decision. I am now 215lbs healthy and full of the Joy of the Lord! Things have been great! My question is for any of you that may have an ileostomy and still have a Jpouch sitting there dormant. I have been having a good amount of fluid coming out of my rectum mostly in the middle of the night where I will wake up and my underwear are soaked. It's just clear and doesn't have much odor to it. Sometimes it even happens during the day but not as bad. My surgeon has tried putting me on antibiotics but they don't seem to help at all. If any of you have experienced this what have you done to get it to stop or am I looking at having to go the route of removal and moving to an end ileostomy? Thanks in advance and God Bless you all!!

As I was thinking about your situation later, it occurred to me that I (and many others)  experienced diversion colitis before take down (re your comment: "a good amount of fluid coming out of my rectum mostly in the middle of the night where I will wake up and my underwear are soaked. It's just clear and doesn't have much odor to it.") I remember treatment with suppositories and talk about short chain fatty acid enemas. An idea to explore?

By the way, I'm happy for you that you've found joy.
