I've been reading about the new less invasive technologies with J-Pouch surgery, and was wondering if folks are having their j-pouch installed using these new techniques (laparoscopic, robots, hybrid), or the traditional open gut surgery.

While I believe the less invasive techniques allow for quicker recovery time, do these procedures also allow for fewer complications and give better long term results?

Thanks for sharing.

I don't know about recovery time but I had the robotic laparo. I can tell you that I was supposed to leave the hospital after three or four days after the colectomy - until I developed an ileus.

My abdomen also exhibits little evidence of having a good sized internal organ removed. Were it not for my ostomy scar, you would be hard pressed to know that I had any surgery at all.
