Hi guys,
Just a little update, I had the 4th and last (hopefully) of surgeries to fix my rather unsightly abdomen (still unsightly but I have an excuse now!)...he botched the first one (suspicions of his not having been in O.R. for the surgery...he had no idea what was done to me or forgotton...it was a disaster with half fixed suture lines, new ones, Frankenstien scars etc) so I finally stood up for myself, screamed, ranted and yelled and had him fix it under local anesthesia (didn't trust him with my eyes closed!)...but he only fixed it partially so we went back again a yr ago and it still wasn't right so now, hopefully on the 4th try my stoma scar will be minimised, the 2nd stoma scar reduced and the quilted look gone.
I did it under local again but in the Big O.R....That is freaky, I must admit...reminded me of the time that I woke up in the middle of pouch surgery...but no PTSD, trauma or other flashbacks...they had me draped and blocked but I could hear it all...here's hoping that he finally got it right this time, not sure hubby wants to see me go through this again.

You're very brave to have undergone this just under a local anesthetic, Sharon. In spite of all we've been through, we still want to look as good as we can, even though the rest of the world can't see all the scars, buldges, etc. I had plastic surgery done years ago to try & achieve some sense of normality, and it was worth every penny of the $10,000 I paid to have it done. Let us know how things turned out after you've healed completely. Here's hoping this latest surgery completely meets all of your expectations!
Thanks Dixie, Paul,
So far so good...in Pain! (fine, one must suffer for beauty Frowner)...the local anesthetic hurt more than any other part...they shove a canula with little holes along the sides under the skin and then wave it back and forth/forward and back to seprate the skin from the muscle/fat etc...OUCH...the local burns and then suddenly everything is numb and the pain stops...had to shoot me up with a whole lot more as they went (says I drink it like mother's milk)...
The scars look better for now and they managed to suck off the lumpy part between them (I looked quilted)...I still dream or having a decent looking abdomen but I will settle for not too lumpy, not too many bulges or bumps...and a few less scars...I will never be bikini worthy but if I am even it will be a miracle.

Thanks Beckysmom,
I am going to admit something to this forum that I only realised lately...I have had a lot of necessary abdominal surgery but never had any esthetic or cosmetic stuff done...so why now at 52? I should have done it at 30 or 40 but it wasn't important.
In 2007, 2yrs after my successful k pouch revision my life was busy, running around, work, family etc and one day hubby asked me to open the gate (hadn't done it since surgery), I did (idiot! that I am), but the gate was stuck, I yanked and ripped my abdomen, herniated, caused a peristomal hernia and a whole nasty round of surgery after surgery. They had to move my stoma twice, fix 6 different hernias (me again, overdoing it)open up and fix my pouch 5 xs...all because of that gate. I was fine before that, healed (if I respected certain limitations) and could have avoided a lot of unnecessary surgery if I had just said NO to my hubby and let im open the gate.
So I wanted to erase these last years, the unnecessary surgeries and the pain that it had all caused me.
We all have different motivations for doing things, that was mine. Erassing the past, letting go of the anger and repressed resentment of my hubby for making me open a stupid gate.
I am hoping to be able to move on with my life now, be healthy and finally get closure on these last 6 years.
Sharon
