Hello All,

Fortunately it has been a bit since I have had any pouch woes, unfortunately I am experiencing some troubling symptoms. I am simply looking for advice on what you all think I should do. My symptoms are as follows:

* mild left-sided pain (feels like in my hip area) - this pain comes and goes in intensity but is pretty much always there in the "background" but not too bad

* some bright red blood in the bowl, not just on the tissue

* urgency - this is intermittent

* some lower abdominal discomfort, straight across the lower ab area, sometimes painful to the touch

* achiness (attributed to my arthritis)

* feeling a bit rundown and kinda like I have the flu, no fever

It doesn't feel like the other times I have had pouchitis so I am not really sure what it is OR if I should even read into it. Any thoughts? I don't want to go into the doctors and pay my co-pay just to be told there is nothing to be done and I certainly don't feel the need to go to the ER. Thanks in advance all. I appreciate it.

Most likely cuffitis and maybe pouchitis too. The bleeding points more to cuffitis, and you can have all the same symptoms as pouchitis. I get them both at the same time. Either one can cause an arthritis flare, if your arthritis is the inflammatory type. My doc will usually prescribe via email communication, and I make an appointment if treatment does not work.

But, yeah, you are not wasting your time following up on this. It will likely just get worse if you ignore it.
