I have came here so many times for support, I thought it was only right to share some good news that someone may be looking for! I had my takedown done at the beginning of March, and I am happy to say I just returned from an AMAZING trip to Jamaica! Smiler I received my cancer diagnosis last year right after my wedding, so my husband and I had to postpone our honeymoon. Luckily, my pouch behaved perfectly.. I was able to eat/drink as I pleased, quite a bit of the "local fare" and more than a few piña coladas and mojitos! lol The only things I did in regards to my "new" normal while on vacation was to take one Immodium with breakfast and/or dinner when I thought about it, threw in some gas-x/beano if I was overly concerned something would be problematic, and made sure to thoroughly enjoy the fresh coconut water there for hydration! We were also able to get out and snorkel quite a bit- I'm so glad to be able to report the pouch didn't hold me back a bit. So for any of you approaching the takedown that may be worrisome- keep faith, there are positive outcomes to this "new" adjustment.

Your post reminds me of my own trip to Jamaica which occurred 3 years post getting the J Pouch and was my 1st true vacation with the Pouch. I worried about the 1.5 hour drive from Montego Bay to Negril but with imodium had no problems. Stayed at Hedonism II, went snorkeling, and drank more than on any vacation in my life, including taking whole pitchers of pina colada and drinking them in the Jacuzzi while watching the sunset. Drinks are included at that resort, so the bartender will blend you a pitcher and let you take it away with you, on a tray with some glasses.

When I told some local Jamaican guys that my mother got pregnant with me in Jamaica (true story, her and my father were working and living in the Kingston Sheraton at the time), I was told that I am actually Jamaican - not honorary but a real Jamaican, and they all greeted me with the Jamaican handshake, which is basically a fist-bump. Jamaica is the only country I have been to where fetal development grants you automatic citizen status!

Great country, great people, GREAT MUSIC (saw the best band ever, 5 guys wearing yellow suits), great bartenders, great drinks, great snorkeling. Only downer on that trip was a spider bite which swelled my ankle up like a grapefruit and made me think I had Dengue Fever, of which there was an outbreak in Jamaica at the time.

CT- I couldn't agree more, great people, great food and great music! Smiler I ,too, stayed at an all inclusive resort where the drinks were provided, actually I think there were more than a few times they thought my husband and I were odd for ordering a water. lol I had been told before I went that Jamaica was one of the most forgiving/inviting places to go to.. Couldn't agree more! How cool that you are actually Jamaican! I only hope I can make it back someday. Thanks for sharing!
