I’ve had my jpouch for about 5 years and I’ve had pouchitis a couple of times but I don’t think that’s the case here.

My abdomen feels distended and I have the feeling that I have to go but it’s like my intestines are kinked, stopping me up. Poo isn’t hanging out in my jpouch but right before it, making it hard to go to the bathroom. I essentially have to wait until my stomach cramps which moves everything down and I can finally go. I also want to note that it’s common for there to be blood in my poo (even when I feel 110%) but there’s always more blood when this happens.
I don’t take any medicines cause my intestines already move slow so a stool thickener makes it impossible for me to go. I don’t think it’s pouchitis cause I don’t have urgency or increased frequency.

It’s another month before I go to my GI but they chalk all of my problems up to pouchitis. I’m hoping somebody has had similar experiences and maybe has some advice. Thanks for reading! Really appreciate any advice or potential questions to ask my GI!

My gastroenterologist told me years ago that products such as Metamucil are regulators.  If you are constipated it helps and/or if you have diarrhea it helps.  It works for me.  A couple of other things I do if I feel as though it isn't easy to pass stool is to cough hard several times while sitting on the toilet or stand in the shower and aim the handheld spray I use right up my anus.  Sometimes this relaxes everything so that stool flows.  It doesn't matter to me if I use the shower stall as a toilet!  And, if I feel "stuck" I will eat an apple......peel and all.  This always works for me......an apple a day, for sure! Good luck in finding what works for you.
