Hi there,

Sorry this is my first post without introducing myself but it's late at night here in Scotland and I need some advice. I promise to introduce properly tomorrow.

I have a long and complicated medical history which has finally culminated in a jpouch 3 years ago. For the large part im normally ok but the last 2 weeks I have suffered horrendous cramps, sore passing of stools and a kind of  permanent "bruised" pain just inside my back passage. Im having to also rush to the toilet.
There is never any blood but sometimes mucas.

I have tried to soldier on, walking to work everyday (about 36/40 mins) which is a painful journey due to the cramps and having to hold. Ive been taking paracetamol and buscopan to try and ease the pain which does help but id rather not.

About 5 weeks ago I had a sigmoidoscopy and I felt superb after it (I had a slight thickening of the bowel wall) with everything flowing nicely but the last two weeks have been bad.

Do these symptoms sound like a blockage or pouchitis?

Pouchitis should have been evident on your scope. Did your doctor not mention anything being inflamed? The Buscopan should help with the cramping, but if you have pouchitis or SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), you'll need antibiotics. Frequency and urgency are typical of these maladies. I'd ask the doctor for a course of metronidazole or ciprofloxin To get this under control.
