I had the j pouch surgery back in 2009. I wonder if I made the wrong choice to get it. I have UC and I say have because the tiny piece of colon that was left is still diseased. I literally have to go to the bathroom still around 15 time a day and since my surgery it has never been solid. I still get blood at times in my stool and I get the horrible stomach pains. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Jadon, have you been treated for this inflammation? Canasa suppositories can help. If your inflammation has been only in your rectal cuff - cuffitis - since your takedown and medication hasn't helped, you're a good candidate for a mucosectomy. They remove the rest of your inflamed cuff and hand sew your jpouch directly to your anus. It could relieve your symptoms and is worth discussing with your surgeon.

Jaden ,
You should not be suffering like this. Medications like anucort , entocort, antibiotics and even prednisone could help. As a last measure they can remove the cuff and hand sew the pouch. I also have chronic cuffitis but all of these meds at various times have helped me survive many of your symptoms since my reversal in 2011. Good luck.
