Hi everyone,

I am looking for ways to stay hydrated. I have been drinking a lot of gatorade but it has so much sugar. I am looking for an alternative way to stay hydrated throughout the day. I know water is good but I feel that it doesn't hydrate me as well as gatorade. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I am an college lacrosse player so staying hydrated through out the day and practice is hard.

There are some new electrolyte drinks out on the market that have no sugar and don't taste horrible. Look up drip drop, and nuun powders and tablets! I also go to my local health food store and purchase recharge a lot. It is really good and sweetened with fruit juice. I drink recharge more often than the other two. I mostly drink nuun or drip drop if I know I am going to be out in the sun for a long time sweating or doing a physical activity.
I have my own homemade recipe:
A made to measure lemonaide that works wonders for me.
I make a simple, sugar-free lemonaide, squeeze 4-6 lemons or use 1tbls of pure lemon juice per glass of water, add either stevia, fake sugar or honey according to your weight needs (lose or gain weight decides for me), throw the pre-washed lemon skins in with the juice & sweetener, add a pinch of salt, a handful of washed mint leaves and cold water to the top of the jug.
Keep in fridge and drink a glass every couple of hours.
It gives me what I need to stay hydrated and I control the sweetness. In summer I add a bit more salt to avoid dehydration. I usually drink it with tons of crushed ice and sip for hours.

If you want an option that's not a beverage, I highly, highly recommend S Caps. Sodium/potassium pill, take with a glass of water or equivalent.

Doesn't cover everything that the sports drinks do, but it's way cheaper and you're not stuck drinking the same thing all the time. Super easy for traveling with, too, since you just need to carry the pills instead of lugging a supply of jugs around.
My sister gifted me a juicer this year and I've been making my own juices. I can't say enough about the health benefits; I am hooked.
There's no way I could eat all the leafy greens, fruits and veggies that I consume in these tasty drinks. I also found coconut water to be really helpful for hydration and it's all natural. I'm not a big fan of the taste but I just add it to smoothies or juice.
