When I first got my j pouch, I was up a lot at night and therefore, totally exhausted everyday. Now that I am sleeping better, I find I'm not as tired as I was before the pouch was created.

Before j pouch surgery, I was always exhausted and could nap every afternoon if allowed. Now I actually have a lot more energy. It could have nothing to do with my surgery and everything to do with changing my eating habits, but there is definitely an energy change.

I had mine when I was 37 and I’m 40 now. So it hasn’t been that long but man, I used to have a ton of energy before (when I was healthy without the bad colon). I could do yard work for 4-5 hours at a time. Now I can prob do an hour or 1.5 at most before calling it a day. I just don’t have it in me. Maybe it’s that I never worked back up to the level that I was at before. I was never this super athlete. But I could do hours of yard work and then come in, watch tv and then clean the house like it was no big deal. I couldn’t think of doing that all in the same day, let alone the same weekend now.

Eh, maybe I’m over the hill, lol. I’m ok with it. I’m healthy.

Yeah I know- I was just messing with you. I will definitely pass it along- I think its cool! I use to say cat nap lol

It's okay.

I'm messing with you too.

Cat nap is just as old as 40 winks.

I've had uc all my life. Of course I really did t know what it was until I had a flare up at 40 years old.  From that point on it was a struggle. Especially when I hit 50. After that it was hell. I worked 40 hours a week on hardly any sleep and kept up the yard work for close to a decade.  But it got so bad both physically and mentally it was going to put me in a grave. So I did something about it. I am the last person who thought an ileo would be my cure. Even tried a pouch for two years. That was worse than the uc. I went downhill fast and had it removed and have the ileo now.

I may not have the stamina I once had. But that's partly my own fault. I'm lazy. If I exercised I would probably be better. But exercise is so boring. I just can't bring myself to do it.

So..... I just get my "40 winks" or cat nap and I'm good to go again... Lol.

What happened with your J-pouch?? Was it pouchitis that made you go back to an ileo???

I was told a pouch my not work.

My ulcers were close to the end of my colon. But we could try. So we did of course. It didn't work.

It really only made it worse and in getting the pouch I was hospitalized 4 times and off work 9 months recovering.

It was two years of pure hell. As soon as it was removed I felt relief. And I moved on. I was off work 4 weeks after removal. Had I kept the pouch and fought against getting an ileo I wouldn't be here. It would have done me in. I couldn't even hold it anymore let alone eat. But I worked everyday.

I'm just glad it's over with.

Nobody wants an ileo. I didn't either. But I can eat and I weigh more now than I did before my surgery. Which proves I'm lazy. Lol. I lost 50 pounds. I only weighed 176 to begin with.  I'm 182 now.

I still have all my parts down there. She (my sugeon) said she left it intact in case I wanted to get another pouch. Which I will never do. No way. The ileo works well and I'm at an age where it doesn't matter. Vanity. I change twice a week. I could change once but out of an abundance of caution at the beginning I have stayed on the schedule.
