Ok, so I have a temp ileostomy. One thing I have stayed away from is getting wet. As in

being submerged. Now I'm about to buy a paddle board and guessing I'll being getting wet at some point. Is this of any real concern? You are after all getting potential bacteria right on your exposed gut. Should the water get through all the gear that is.

Also those who do "get wet" what issues have come up for you? I would expect if I took a dive I'd probably change my gear that night or next day. Hopefully the thing wouldn't just pop off. Which leads me to another question. I always wear a 1" elastic belt. I see may of you do not wear these. That seems crazy to me, I'd be so paranoid.

Thanks for reading and helping.

I make sure I wear the belt and I always bring additional supplies!  You can do with a bag everything that anyone without a bag can do, just take extra precautions.  I always try not to eat too much prior, digestion time, so the bag won't fill up and be a problem for me.  It all works out well!!  Don't let the bag slow you down!  I loathe this bag but I won't let it rule me.  It'll be gone soon, so I keep that in mind.
Play and have fun, enjoy!!!!

I vacationed in the Dominican Republic, went boating and also "Snooba" diving, basically underwater about 30 feet or so for about a half hour with my loop ileostomy.  I'm not sure I'd want to submit the seal to hours and hours underwater, but had no problems.  While I didn't have a belt, I think that might not be a bad idea for extra security!
