I was just wondering if anyone has ever been diagnosed with SIBO, if it resolved itself, and with what treatment.  Was there relapse?  Is there hope?

I have had a J pouch for 9 years and it has been wonderful.  I had an emergency surgery in September after my small bowel slipped behind my pouch and twisted in on itself causing a volvulus, and ultimately death of my intestine.  They had to take out 2 1/2 feet of the little I have left in there!  Anyway, post-op was horrible.  Long story short it was, as I suspected, completely bacterial and diagnosed as SIBO.  After trying the natural route with diet and supplements, it did not work and so I agreed to do the Xifaxan.  It was like a miracle, but I'm wondering how to proceed now that it's done.  I'm not in complete agreement with the docs and wanted to see what others thought about keeping a good bacterial environment in my gut.  Apparently, relapse is quite frequent and I feel a small difference even after only 1 day off of it.  Any advice would be great...thanks!
