I had my colon removed in 2001 and have had occasional flares. Then the last couple years I've had bleeding and recently it is so severe I sometimes wonder how I'm even alive. They cant find where it's coming from and I'm scared. I mean its ALOT of bleeding!

Why can’t they figure out where the bleeding is coming from? Have you had a pouchoscopy? Are you in pain with excessive bathroom trips which would indicate pouchitis which is treatable with antibiotics, cortifoam enemas etc? A trained Gi should easily be able to recognize where your bleeding is coming from with a scope (jpouch, anal canal) . I hope you are getting the correct care.
Thank you. Yes he did a scope and found that I do have pouchitis, however, is not convinced that's where the bleeding is coming from because medication got rid of the symptoms of the pouchitis. Frequent bathroom trips with water stool and urgency were gone, bleeding continued. With severe pouchitis or chrons is the bleeding, or can it be insanely heavy with clotting, do you know?
What colour is the blood? Darker is worse. When i was diagnosed with crohns I would empty the pouch and then dark red blood would appea on top with mucus. Every time.
I have uulcers in pouch and experience pouchitis without bleeding. Cuffitis and fissures always bring be bleeding.
I am sorry you are experiencing this. You may need longer treatment to heal Ulcers if I’m pouch. The typical pouchitis treatments will curb symptoms but ulcers may still be active in pouch. You may want to ask doctor about entecort or cortifoam enemas to see his/her opinion also ask about vsl2 probiotic. Insurance may cover it.
