Seton broke! Argh.

On man, bummer. When (if?) they replace it, ask about getting a redundant seton put in. My surgeon at CC puts 2 in so that if one breaks, there's no huge emergency to get in and have it replaced.

Can you have it replaced during an office visit? Or do you need an EUA?

EUA each time. Not a bad idea to place 2, especially since I like the thin ones that break easier.

He wants to wait. *sigh* Last one I had out, I was good for 2 weeks before it became more of an annoyance again. Let's hope for a Christmas miracle, and it just closes up!!

I'm going to go with Christmas miracle. Maybe your body wanted it out because it is finally ready to heal.

It's not totally impossible that your fistula might heal up, so let's go with that positive thought until you decide your next step.

Hope you will feel great throughout the holidays, and only have to deal with this afterwards (or not at all!) Maybe 2015 is going to be your year.

Rachel-just wondering how things are going? Our stories are so similar, although I'm not on biologics yet but wondered if they were helping the fistula at all since the latest seton fell out!

Well, I'm on a steroid taper again, along with the Humira (which I've held a few days; I know not great, but got my second bad URI in 1.5 months, and just giving myself a couple of days to heal), and the fistula is but a blip on my radar lately.

I've not needed a sitz bath but a few times, and mostly, it's just doing its thing, draining a little, but not really bugging me. Surgeon HAD said the tract was mature, and that I might not need the seton... maybe things are moving in the right direction? My fingers are crossed.

Sorry to hear of the seton issues. Glad to hear things seemed to be holding steady? Maybe this us really a turning point?

Steroids ended last week. Already feel the changes without them. I certainly don't want to be on continual steroids, but wondering why *they* help! but maybe not the Humira As much?  See the doctor in a month, guess I'll have lots to talk about.
