Second blockage in a month

I had blockages back to back to back with my loop ileostomy. I never had a blockage with my J-pouch and its been almost 7 years. Everyone is different but I think you will be fine with J-pouch

Are you doing blockage prevention strategies when there is not a blockage present?

I don't think I could have prevented this one. I'm already very restrictive with foods and eat only things that can pass through easily. Or so I thought. I drink a lot of water during the day as well. I was unable to prevent this because the way the stoma healed, it formed scar tissue right around it and it was unable to pass any food at all.

What you said makes sense! I was wondering why this happened when the first time you had an ostomy, everything was okay. So what you said definitely answers the question! Are you okay now hon???

I detailed my experience in one of my former posts so I’ll be brief. Had numerous SBOs (practically every week or so) when I had my loop. A couple were severe, others cleared on their own at home. When I had my takedown, my CRS found a thick adhesive band that wrapped around both the proximal and distal limb at the stoma site. My ileum was dilated (likely for months) above the loop. He removed said adhesion and I haven’t had an SBO since takedown. Eat a pretty varied diet. My 5 months with the loop were hell but takedown did help. Now if I could solve the pouch issues…Hope you can get rid of the loop soon. It was no fun.
