Hi ladies,

First i want to say that I am sooooo happy I found this site. I live in Denmark, and not many people have got a J-pouch here - so it's hard to find good advices when trying to concieve.

Next I want to ask all of you for your best advices.

I am 23 years old - have had J-pouch for 4 yrs now. I have a lovely boyfriend, age 33. And we want to start a little family now.

Actually we have not been using protection for 4 years - it's not like we tried to have a baby, but I never got pregnant during these 4 years without protection. So that tells me, I might very likely be blocked.

However - this month we will start our Baby Project for real and I need all good advices from you:-)

Here's what I'm planning to do:

- Start doing yoga to stretch out that scartissue.
- Eating healthy
- Quitting weekend beers;-)
- Try to ''do it'' every second day (might not happen this often though)

... So: Do I need to add something to the list?Smiler

Congratulations on your Baby project.
Very good plans too but you might want to add a visit to your Obs-Gyn to take a peek at you and maybe do a test to make sure that there a no blockages in there. They have 1 or 2 different tests but mostly an HSG is used to check out the fallopian tubes to see if they are open...your GYN will be the one to tell you what tests you need and if or when she wants to do them.
Good luck

AFter 4 years of unprotected sex and no pregnancies, I would be checking into a fertility specialist. Your biggest advantage is your age, so I wouldn't wait any longer. All fertility treatments are most effective the younger you are.

An HSG test should tell if you have blocked tubes, and basic lab work will tell if you or your partner have any issues with hormones or sperm.
I agree with Jill. Also, doing it every other day is NOT the way to get pregnant. I don't know what your access to books is, but I suggest the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you are interested in trying naturally a bit longer, and signing up on FertilityFriend.com, which is a free charting site that will help you understand your own cycle and the signs of when it's time to do it (and it's not every other day, which could actually hurt your chances instead of just doing it on the RIGHT days).

That being said, after 4 years of unprotected sex I def would go to a fertility specialist to have the necessary tests done to see if your tubes are blocked (HSG test) or not, and see if you can get them to ultrasound your ovaries to see if they are placed correctly. Most women who have had our surgery have ovaries that are covered with scar tissue and it doesn't matter how much you do it, the egg can't get into the tube, so no baby. Better to find this out sooner rather than later.
My GI suggests that all women try IVF right away because of such a high chance of having blocked tubes. My husband and I got pregnant after almost a year of trying when I was on the whole 30 (paleo eating diet). I'm not sure if it was a fluke, but I have a feeling that it played a role in us getting pregnant but if both tubes are blocked, diet won't make a difference. I suggest going to a fertility clinic sooner rather than later.
