Hi everyone,

I’m so glad I’ve found this place! I’ve had a j-pouch for six years and two years ago began developing scar tissue that caused frequent obstructions resulting in constant ER visits. I’ve tried manual therapy with people trained to break up scar tissue, castor oil packs and abdominal massages, but with only mild improvement. Last May I had to have surgery for thus, but my surgeon unfortunately wasn’t able to reach the main issue because it was so deep in my pelvis, so he had to create a bypass. Post surgery things were okay but I’m now having constant partial bowel obstructions at all times so I think I’ve regrown more scar tissue. The only thing that has made tHess obstructions slightly manageable is a soft food diet, but that doesn’t resolve the issue of course.

Has anyone here dealt with scar tissue and frequent obstructions, and have found ways to break it up non invasively for longer term solutions? I am 25 and am worried about needing more and more surgery as time goes on.

Thank you!

Thanks Lauren!! I used to be able to prevent obstructions that way but it seems that I’m chronically partially obstructed at all times these days no matter what (getting enough water always helps tho!). I’d love to know if you or anyone has tried therapies alternative to surgery to help break up scar tissue? I can’t seem to get rid of this partial obstruction (going on two years with it and it’s miserable haha).

Your welcome and I am sorry to hear that honey! Maybe you should talk to your gastro/ colon surgeon at this point and see what advice they offer. That is what i would do if my preventative methods ever failed me.
