I had procto colectomy with J-Pouch surgery in 2005. I had no issues at all up until last year. I had pouchitus. My doctor prescribed flagyl and lomotil .That seemed to have taken care of it. In the past week I have extreme burning pain that comes and goes at the rectum area. The pain gives you the sense ( rectal burn) that you have to empty the pouch. When you sit, it seems like your constipated. Then you relax for a few moments and the pouch empties. I have always been more comfortable with liquid type stool instead of using fiber and bulking up.

This burn is very painful. It is right at the rectum and because I have never experienced this before I explain it like it is an exposed nerve ending that is burning. A red hot iron is a good explanation . The pain actually feels like it is going into my hip joint / ball joint and down the back of my leg.

I use a small amount of Calmoseptene for relief for most minor irritations and it works. This past week I used alot of cream and it seemed to help.

Can anyone tell me what this pain could be and how I can remedy it ?
