Hey all,

I'm just wondering if any of you experience occasional rectal irritation/ inflammation after having your pouch disconnected. I've had my ileo back for 5 years now  - but occasionally I get this feeling almost as though I have UC back again - I feel like I need to go the toilet a lot, its awkward to walk as it feels like my rectum is going to prolapse - it feels very inflamed. I have a fair bit of fluid also. It seems to be aggravated with menstruation - so not sure if its connected with that, or endometriosis. Any thoughts - any other ladies get this with menstruation?

I was about to go on a 4 day hike - but now feeling unsure if I can with this inflammation.

Generally I have been happy I have gone to my ileo though.

Saff, I get this a lot,

Why were you just discounted?  Had emergecry surgery due to bad pouchitis.

Im assuming you have a loop like me.

Im having real issues. I have to wear convec to stop leaking which is not comfortable.

I can't get enough calories into me this is a real problem

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

Hey all, thanks for your responses, I did have my pouch disconnected 5 years ago due to pouchitis. I have been good since then, but after reading some posts on the forum I think I have either diversion pouchitis / colitis or cuffitis . I hope I can find a way to manage this without needing to remove it with another surgery.

I actually have an end ileo - not a loop. I don't have trouble with calories - but if I were you I'd seek help from a dietician.

Thumprhare - Im not sure this is period related anymore as it is ongoing. But thanks for that tip re antispasmodics.
