So earlier this week my right cheek became slightly swollen and tender. I assumed I'd managed to bonk it or had a bug bite or some such. Last night, however, it became really swollen and sore, and then the swelling moved out to my ear, down underneath my jaw, and around my neck. By this morning I added a headache and sort throat to the mix, not to mention not being able to speak properly and extreme pain while eating. So I went into the after hours clinic.

Ta da! I have a salivary duct stone! Sooo much fun! It is blocking the gland (causing the swelling and pain) and they couldn't dislodge it, so I'm now sucking on sour candies and drinking a ton in an attempt to produce more saliva and dislodge the stupid thing. (If that doesn't work after a few days I have to go back in and the interventions get progressively more gross...)

Which, of course, means I'm now running like a faucet from all the stupid candies. Man, do I know how to have a good time or what?

Thanks, all. The gland is still slightly swollen and sore to touch (which I have to do several times a day as I massage it to break up or move the stupid stone). Not too much pain now, but still there sometimes when I eat. Thankfully I'm back to normal life, work, etc. Hoping this last bit will break up and disappear soon!
