Hope everyone is doing well and is healthy. Well, over a month ago I had my jpouch surgery, the second of the three surgeries. Man was that painful, but I am doing really well now. In about 2-3 weeks my surgeon said I will have to go in and have the procedure of having them pressure test the jpouch, (I don't know the technical name of this procedure), when they pump that stuff in your but and then scan the jpouch and all that. I was wondering how bad that is going to be. With out a doubt I know it's going to be quite uncomfortable to say the least. Can you let me know about your experience with it? If that all goes well, then I have the drop down surgery and finally can get rid of the illesotomy bag thing. God this has been such a long journey. Thank you.

Hey JoeJoe!!!!! It has been forever since I have heard from you, hope you are doing well dear, especially in the shop

I am going to keep it real with you: the test hurts like a MOTHER@##%#%@$ I was in a lot of pain during the test. The only thing that got me through it was me thinking: "no more bag, no more bag, no more bag lol". Keep those thoughts and you will make it I almost cracked under pressure and was just going to keep my bag because that test was so painful lol. But my stoma  was not doing good so I had no choice to keep it.

I think it's called a pouchogram. It was definitely uncomfortable, but like Lauren, I was focusing on the fact that this is the last test so that I can get rid of the bag. Bring an extra bag and supplies in case your bag leaks. The only time my bag leaked in public was immediately after that procedure.

Congratulations! I've had my pouch for 4 years and I am very happy with it.

It's a little uncomfortable, not a big deal. They will be checking for leaks. Wouldn't be a good situation if stool entered your pouch and then leaked into your body, would it? That could be Sepsis City. Which is one city you do not want to visit. So basically it's a standard drill to see if it's healed or leaking. At the 3 month mark you should be good to go and assuming you aren't leaky, you will be. It's very few people who fail their pouchogram. Certainly less than the number who fail the New York State Bar exam, which had a 69% pass rate when I sat for it in 1991.

I had the the pouchogram about 4 weeks ago.

While it was very uncomfortable, I would not call it pain. Just a very full feeling down there while you are turning left side to right side as they are shooting lots of X-rays.

the tech took pity on me and held the catheter in place instead of inflating the balloon. I was scared that the balloon would damage the pouch.

best part was when the young radiologist popped her head out from behind the booth and stated , ok no strictures or leaks, you’re good to go for takedown!

indeed… this Friday 730am!
