I have a new GI doc and she wants me to do a Miralax  prep the day before a scope. My colorectal doc who I’ve been with for 27 years and the only person who has ever scoped me never made me prep other than clear liquids the day before and nothing after 12:00 am.  I’m worried about using a laxative. Any experiences or advice?

thanks!

For my pouchoscopy last October, i did a Miralax prep.

also started at 6 pm and only needed half the amount with 4 -eight oz glasses of gatoraid. By 10pm I was finished and output was clear.

GI doc originally wanted me to use citrate magnesium, but I resisted as I thought it was too potent without a colon. We then agreed on the Miralax. I always found it to be an easy prep, even when I had a colon.

I've used Miralax in Gatorade twice as ordered by Dr. Shen. It's an easy prep and very effective. I'm of a mind that if I'm in need of a scope, the endoscopist should have as clean view as possible of all the mucosa to determine where to take biopsies, identify lesions, strictures, etc.  I don't look forward to it - not a fan of Gatorade - but I don't question the need for the prep.
