Prep for J pouch Scope

I am having my yearly J Pouch Scope next month at the Cleveland clinic. I get a e mail from his office about prep for the scope. Clear liquids the day before.The night before a bottle 255 Miralax mixed with 64 oz bottle of gaterade. Drink 8 oz every 15 min until gone. Drink clear liquids up to 2 hours before scope. I had a scope about a year ago by the same doctor and i dont remember any prep like this. This is like i used to do when i had a colon. Anyone else have to do this for a j pouch scope?

No never. Only chear liquids snd no food after midnite and 2 fleet enenas morning of.

Call the nurse and ask to speak to the doc if you need to, but really you shouldn't need to do anything other than not eat after midnight and empty your pouch right before.

Hi John from Australia.
I had a pouch scope a couple of weeks ago and it was just nil by mouth after 12 the night before and a fleet enema just before the scope, no problems.I watched it on the screen and after 32 years I have a very healthy looking pouch,its worth having a look to see how your pouch is made.

ps There is one advantage in not having a colon anymore in that you don,t have to do much prep anymore.

Odd. Yes, call the nurse and ask for clarification.

Unless you're having some special procedure done, I don't know why they'd have you clean out like this.

I did call the nurse to make sure all that prep for a j pouch scope? She said it was his new instructions sorry crazy i did a little prep but not what they asked. It went well so thats all that matters.

I refuse to do the prep. And if they gripe about it. Well it just dehydrates me and makes me poo 40 times instead of 15! The first time I didnt take it, this was way back in the day. I just didnt drink thst nasty crap. Then asked them if they could tell if I drank the nasty crap after. There response was we can definitely tell you did your prep. My response was well I didnt! And I'm never going to drink that #%&= again. And I havent had to again. 16 years with UC strait into chronic pouchitis.

Has anyone had to do Bo Shen's new prep, the full bowel prep with nothing but liquids for a full 24 hours. I feel like it is going to make me very sick, and I need to study for an exam for the following Monday. Is this going to give me explosive diarrhea and butt burn?
