Hi everyone!

I am new here and wanted to find out a few things. I have been tested and confirmed I can conceive naturally. So here is what I want to know...

Did anyone struggle to fall pregnant with a j pouch? Also when pregnant how was the experience? Is there anything to worry about with the j-pouch during pregnancy?

Hi Candice.  You can find lots of great threads on this topic if you do a search on "pregnancy" or "pregnant" or just scroll through the topics in this forum.

The biggest issue with conceiving for women with J-pouch is the potential that your tubes may be blocked due to scar tissue formation.  Typically, if you don't get pregnant after 6 months of trying, you can have that looked at.

As for pregnancy itself, it shouldn't be much different than a typical pregnancy.  As the baby puts more pressure on the pouch, especially in the 3rd trimester, you'll likely have a lot more trips to the bathroom.

Delivery options are something you'll have to consider.  Natural delivery has the potential concern of sphincter muscle damage down the road.  C-section would have it's own risks as any typical C-section.

I had a baby pre pouch and a baby post pouch.  I delivered naturally with both and no issues to report at this time.  First trimester, pouch output really slows down, which can be great, but it was even constipating, which can be hard to believe (down to going once a day sometimes).  Most of the pregnancy was very much the same until the last few weeks where the pressure had me getting up a lot a night to use the bathroom.  I took Unisom for the last few weeks to help that, which was awesome.

Best wishes for you!!
