Pouchitis and Uveitis?

How was the uveitis diagnosed? I am asking as I often have a lot of red pain in one eye lately and I have chronic pouchitis. It is on my list this week to get the eye looked at. I also have very blurred vision.
My eye is red, but not nearly as red as pictures I have looked at on the internet. Many times I chalk it up to lack of sleep, but I not sure that is the case.

Have you had a scope (and biopsies) to test for pouchitis? That is the best way for them to diagnose you, but the doctors will often prescribe antibiotics based upon your symptoms. Pouchitis can also have a host of other symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, diarrhea, urgency, increased frequency, night time leakage and fevers. And yes,I often have abdominal pain on and off with my pouchitis.

From what I understand uveitis is not a condition to mess with, so hopefully you are getting it treated.

Hi Jeane - The uveitis has exactly the symptoms you are describing, redness, blurry vision (due to inflammation leading to increased pressure, glaucoma). Sometimes is can be sore but I don't have that much pain associated with my bouts. My pressure spikes very high (typically around 40 where normal pressure is 12-15). Thankfully only the one eye is affected not both. I would recommend going directly to an opthamologist in lieu of an optometrist.

I have a scope scheduled for this Friday. Fingers crossed nothing too serious.

Definitely go have your eye checked out. Multiple drops seem to do the trick!

Interesting because I was going to post about problem I've been having, worried it could be uveitis, and then I saw this post. Here's what's been happening with me: One morning a couple weeks ago, I woke up with terrible pain in my right eye; it was so sensitive to light that I could hardly keep it open. I had problems focusing, blinking was painful, so I would let my eyes water. It resolved itself in a day.
Now, last night it started again, and I've had the problem all day today. I was home most of the day, tried to rest my eyes, but then I had to drive this afternoon for a total of about an hour,and it was very painful and hard to keep my eyes from watering. Definitely sensitive to light and very painful at times. Same eye as last time.
Does this sound like uveitis/iritis?
I'm also going through some problems with my pouch that my doctor suspects could be pouchitis, but I've been holding off, hoping it's not. He wanted me to take VSL#3, but I could only do the sample and can't afford it.
So is pouchitis and uveitis related? I had already thought of uveitis, remembering i had read about its connnection to UC.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Laurie, sounds like iritis/uveitis to me. You need to get to an opthalmologist pronto, as there can be serious complications if it is left untreated. Good luck!

Thank you, NancyAnn. After your words of advice and some other things I read, I did go see my optometrist (she is close and I trust her) yesterday. Turns out that while the symptoms are very much like uveitis, I actually have corneal erosion, a complication of a corneal abrasion I got 9 years ago! So I'm being treated for that. The interesting thing is that the dehydration I'm fighting constantly was likely a factor in this eye problem starting a couple weeks ago.
I still have to figure out what's going on with my pouch, but at least I know what's going on with my eye.
