Pouchitis and Cuffitis?

You could have both, or perhaps the pouchitis returned as soon as you stopped the Cipro. Has your GI had a look or done a digital exam?

Thanks for your comeback Scott, no, I haven't seen a doctor but did talk with him.

I'm beginning to think that it's my IPS since it seems to be hitting me at night after dinner.
I'm fine now and would think that if it's either Pouchitis or Cuffitis, I wouldn't be. I had one episode around 12:00 last night with a bit of incontinence, so that's a question as what that was all about since I've been okay with the cipro and have not had any problems at night at all.

The doctor has me on the generic of Elavil for my IPS and I don't think that I'm on enough. I'm going to try to increase it tonight to see what happens. If I'm not better by Monday, I will try to get an appointment to see him.

Elavil does its thing pretty slowly, so you might have to give any change in dose a few weeks to really assess whether it did the trick.

Thanks, I tried more last night and it didn't seem to do anything at all. I'll keep using it for awhile, and see what happens. Wonder why I don't get any pains or gas after breakfast or lunch and why it happens after dinner, or why I felt okay when I was using Cipro. Any idea?

I'm not surprised that you felt better on Cipro. It suggest that whatever's troubling you responds to Cipro, but either it was incompletely treated, or it only responds while you're on it. Could the time-of-day issue be related to a large evening meal? Many of us eat more/differently at dinner.

You can have both at the same time and also have IPS. I've had them all at the same time plus I had c.diff infections along in there too. I can't take Cipro anymore as it is what caused my first c.diff infection when I had my colon. I liked taking Cipro when compared to Flagyl.

Scott's right to about the Elavil. I take it's generic Amitriptyline and it helps. It hasn't taken care of all of my j-pouch problems but it has helped.
