Could I have both? I've been on Cipro for the past two weeks with what I suspected was Pouchitis. I went off of Cipro on Monday, and tonight I'm experiencing a horrid stomach ache, gurgling and horrible gas pains, butt burn and pain in my rectal areal. Wondering if I have both Pouchitis and Cuffitis. Is that possible, and if it is, what do I do now?

So discouraged....ready to give up, help.

Thanks for your comeback Scott, no, I haven't seen a doctor but did talk with him.

I'm beginning to think that it's my IPS since it seems to be hitting me at night after dinner.
I'm fine now and would think that if it's either Pouchitis or Cuffitis, I wouldn't be. I had one episode around 12:00 last night with a bit of incontinence, so that's a question as what that was all about since I've been okay with the cipro and have not had any problems at night at all.

The doctor has me on the generic of Elavil for my IPS and I don't think that I'm on enough. I'm going to try to increase it tonight to see what happens. If I'm not better by Monday, I will try to get an appointment to see him.

Thanks again.
You can have both at the same time and also have IPS. I've had them all at the same time plus I had c.diff infections along in there too. I can't take Cipro anymore as it is what caused my first c.diff infection when I had my colon. I liked taking Cipro when compared to Flagyl.

Scott's right to about the Elavil. I take it's generic Amitriptyline and it helps. It hasn't taken care of all of my j-pouch problems but it has helped.
