Pouchitis

Augmentin slways makes me sick and gives me worse diarrhea. If you find your symptoms are worsening contact your doctor. It is possible you had an adverse relation to the other antibiotic you took. Cipro always works like a charm for pouchitis with no real side effects other than some muscle pain for me. Don't get discouraged. I battled pouchitis on and off my first year or more after surgery and I no longer seem to develop it. Watch your sugar intake, carbs, caffeine and alcohol... all the great things in life.

Also, since this followed a course of antibiotics, ask about C. difficile testing. Augmentin would not be a good choice if this was C. diff.

yea sounds like a case of c.diff. I was on cipro and suprax when I got mine. It will only get worse if you have it and are on those antibiotics. Ask for PCR testing/stool test.

I was tested for them. Now I am on Flagle. My doctor scoped me
on Thursday and took 10 biopies the problem was going up my pouch as the
inside was not inflamed. I did stool samples. No results yet. Also the biopies will take up to two weeks to be back from the Pouchoscopy. It was a longer scope then usual then what I have done. She is looking to see if it could be a parisite.

Yea my biopsies were clean. Stool test was what came back positive for c.diff.
