Just wondering where the stoma goes in regards to the scar site. Seems like that was the best place. When I wore pants the stoma seemed just above the pant line so maybe it could go slightly lower. Also someone posted here once, that they diverted the pouch for a few years before actually having it removed. I don't know how much more I can take. I am almost 5 months out, but I am in agony. I am going to ask for antibiotics to see if that helps, but I just assume get the bag back. I was really happy then. If the bag worked great and I could eat whatever, hopefully that will happen again. Will a doctor do that so soon though. Also what antibiotics could I ask for. I get horrible thrush on whatever they give at surgery, cipro/flagyl I think.

I am in pediatrics but I have been having problems ever since my takedown as well in April. I preferably do not want the bag back because I am so young, but I too had a great way of life with it and miss that.
My surgeons told me that with a couple of their past patients, they made them wait one year to go back to an ostomy. I am not sure if it would be different or the same for adult care though...

As for antibiotics I am on cipro in conjunction with keflex right now and my GI says that it works really good for many with pouchitis. I have also been on flagyl (allergic to) and rifaximin all for pouchitis.

Do you have confirmed pouchitis or something that the antibiotics would be treating in your j pouch, like an infection?
Sorry about your issues. I am hoping you get some good care, five months is not terribly far out and it might turn around for you!

As far as the stoma location, my first stoma was on the right side. I had issues with my pouch and my second was on the left side. The first was just above my belt line (think "Urkle"), but I asked the surgeon to put the second one lower and it's below my belt line. Much better.

Hang in there, though!
