Happy Saturday J Pouch friends!!

does anyone know how long your stool stays in pouch before it empty’s, how long it takes???

i also have Gastroparesis and will have surgery called POP for that this month..

to had the SMART PILL test and my stomach empty’s 16 hours as normal is 4-5 and my pouch empty’s 7 hours so I’m was wondering if anyone knows how long stool stays in pouch???

I think it would depend on how often you go to the bathroom. The more often you go, the less time it has to stay in the pouch, but the less often you go, the longer it stays. I go so frequently during the day, I’m probably not more than 3-4 hours away from the bathroom at any given time. Again, it probably depends on the person, however because I know others who have posted on here that only go 3-4 times per day so that would make their time a lot longer inbetween movements.

Good luck with your surgery. On a side note, my mom has gastroparesis - she has a pacemaker in her stomach to stimulate her stomach to empty and it’s been life changing (in a good way). Hope your surgery is as helpful and successful.
