Pouch it's? Or could it be more?

So I've had pouchitis before here and there but this time seems different and I'm worried. I'm waiting see get in to see my super overbooked gastro so I thought I would see what I can find out here.
So this time seems different because I have way more abdominal cramping, headaches, major fatigue, sore everything, more gas, more mucus, etc. my question is

Are there different degrees of Pouchitis? Can it be way worse sometimes?

I'm on a course of metronidazole and cirpo. The metro makes me so nauseous I can barely get up. Sucks! Help!

In my 20 years with pouchitis, I would say yes. I do not get headaches and soreness elsewhere but all of your other symptoms, yes. What varies greatly is the intensity of the urge to evacuate and the frequency of the bowel movements. In the really bad flares I am on the toilet every 15 minutes with very explosive diarrhea.

Let us know how you are doing. Mel, there are other antibiotics you can take besides flagyl which is poorly tolerated by many people. Augmentin and xifaxin are two that you might do better with.

They have me on the same meds (Cipro and metro) but it's via IV which my body is able to cope with better. My pain has gone downto about half but is still there. They are giving me dilaudid for the pain. Today I'm having a down day as I'm missing my family and kids a lot but find sleeping makes the day go by smoother and faster.
Tomorrow he wants to switch me over to the oral meds again and see how that goes. Fingers crossed I can go home then.

Hey Mel,

Were you taking the cipro and flagyl on an empty stomach? It's best to take them with food. I am a little curious as to why they would attempt to put you back on oral antibiotics that had sickened you. Obviously they can't IV them forever, and they are likely encouraged by your response to taking them by IV, but they are not the only antibiotics used to treat pouchitis.
