Pouch Advacement

I had it 15 years ago. I had ulcers at the same site. Although the cuff is gone I still suffer from pouchitis, inflammation, it never solved that problem. I hope you have more success.

PDS, pouch advancement can be very effective in the right hands. It's normally done with a mucosectomy. It's a very delicate, hand-sewn surgery - if I needed it I think I'd get it done in Cleveland, or at least interrogate my surgeon about how many he has performed, how successful they have been, where he learned the procedure, and what rate of incontinence he's had. This is much more specialized than creating a stapled J-pouch.

Hi Scott - I really appreciate your input. Dr Weiss is my surgeon and going for a consult about the procedure early July. He's already adviced me of the difficulty to this procedure. There appears to be very little  information on hand sewn procedures other than some studies performed. I feel I'm in good hands and he's performed well to date. My body for one reason or another is struggling to adapt to the J Pouch. Thanks 

I do not leak. Only at night IF I have pouchitis.

Welcome to the group PDS  I hope this is the final surgery you will ever need!
