I was diagnoses with Crohn's in Sept. and started Remicade-5 infusions so far. I was feeling good and a scope showed that things were much better.

I fell and broke my wrist at the end of January and was given perocet for pain. I took two tabs per day. I felt GREAT! NO pain at all. My pouch seemed to be working so much better. Now, I'm done with the Perocet. Is there anyone out there who takes pain meds daily (low dose)?
I know, at least in NYState, they're really cracking down on pain meds.

Thanks,

Lisa

I take 30mg codeine 3x/day along with fiber and Imodium to firm my stools. It's not for pain, purely for the constpating effect of the narcotics. It's a hassle because I have to get a hard copy script each month, but it helps. Been about 3-4 years of this, same dose.

I don't think anyone would Rx Percocet long term for stool firming purposes. Before the codeine, I used paragoric (opium tincture), but the liquid was a hassle multiple times daily, and I grew taste averse to it -(tastes really nasty), but worked!
I don't take pain meds on a regular basis, but I know what you are talking about relative to percocet. I have found that oxycodone and codeine are the only drugs I have used thusfar that really work for me in terms of pouch happiness.

I was never in that much pain during or after surgery 1.5 years ago and had most of my supply of percocet left over. Whenever I am feeling bad pouch-wise, or am traveling and am not certain where my next bathroom stop will be, I will take a percocet (or sometimes a vicodin - although it makes me groggy) and that will give me a good four hours of blessed peace. Obviously I don't take them very often, but on those occasions when I need some extra help I'm ever so grateful to have something that makes me feel normal and in control for at least a little while.

It will be sad day when I finish the last of my narcotics cache.
