Hi everyone

This is my first time posting a topic. I was diagnosed in March 2016 with FAP and had my J pouch & stoma bag fitted in July 2016. I had my stoma bag removed in January 2017.

Since the stoma bag was removed I have experienced bleeding my period every month via my back passage (as well as my front). There have also been issues with being in severe pain.

I have went to my Consultant who has ruled out a fistula and referred me to gaeny for further tests.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has it caused any problems with infertility?

My partner and I would 1 day like to have a baby but I am fearing this means I won't be able.

Also, reading a lot of your posts.. many of you with FAP have needed IVF to help you conceive..

May I ask is there anyone on here who has not had to have IVF with FAP.. as we don't have the means to do that and it worries me. Sorry if that is intrusive or rude.

I have 3 kids to a previous relationship. My partner does not have any and it is something we would like a little bit of advice on and help on whether we need to be prepared for the fact we may not be able.

Appreciate any replies or advice. Thank you in advice.

Hi,

Sorry I can't help you too much as I don't have kids but I think that the main reason people have IVF is so that they can do genetic screening and stop FAP being spread to their children. I have FAP and it's more than likely the route I'll go down when I get to that stage (it was also previously advised by my surgeon).

Also I haven't noticed any change in my period since my surgery (I had my stoma removed in May last year).

Katrina
